"Hands up and begging for forgiveness, he lets a tear escape. Faced with death before him, a man who was once so big and bad trembles with fear and regret. Society brands men as these independent, emotionless care-takers, and from the very beginning, boys are taught not to cry. They're taught that vulnerability is a cancer to their masculinity, but when it comes down to it, they're just as vulnerable as women can be. At the end of the day, those big, bad, tough men are human, too… Spades is human, too." - Amir James, Unaccounted For, Chapter 6 This book is an ode to women empowerment and *real* feminism, but how can we have a discussion about *said* feminism without better understanding the male perspective as well? Real men don't cry? LOL society is cancer. Debunking preconceived expectations is what we need to have a community discussion about. 👌🏿
